UK Destinations For Families

We all know how expensive it can be to take a holiday in another country. The UK may not be the cheapest place to have a holiday but you don’t have to worry about exchanging your currency and the journey can be quicker too.

It can also be ideal for a family holiday, no matter what age your kids might be. But where should you head to for the best possible time you could have together? Here are some suggestions.

There is so much to see and do in Cornwall that you cannot imagine getting bored, no matter what the weather might do while you are there.

Places like Newquay have sensational beaches to enjoy with a chance to take a dip in the sea. The whole family will love places such as the Eden Project, which promises a great fun packed day out.

Show your kids what life used to be like by visiting Mary King’s Close, which is underneath the main part of Edinburgh. They might even see a ghost or two.

There is Edinburgh Castle too of course, and once the children find out it is built on top of a volcano – albeit an extinct one – they will be glad they went.

If your kids are old enough to enjoy a ride or two, what better place could there be to go than Blackpool Pleasure Beach?

There are several different roller coasters here that you can all try (provided you’re all tall enough and brave enough) and there are plenty of places you can stop for a bite to eat as well.  With a selection of family rides as well as the major ones, there is lots to look forward to.

The Lake District

If you want to get your kids off their games consoles and out into the fresh air, you can do no better than to head for the Lake District.

There are countless walks you can go out on with a picnic for a few hours or more, and there are plenty of towns to explore together as well.  Why not take a boat trip on Lake Windermere or visit the World of Beatrix Potter?  The famous children’s author wrote lots of her books here.

This is barely touching the surface of what you can enjoy throughout the UK on a family holiday. The key thing is to think about the ages of your children and figure out where you can head to that has lots to offer for everyone. Younger children might enjoy a centred holiday like Butlins, whereas older children will appreciate going to a theme park or somewhere with lots to see and do.

Wherever you end up going, we’re sure you will make the most of the great British weather, whatever it might throw at you. There are activities in the UK to suit all times of the year as well as every family.
